Thanks to the freshness of the clay soils, the Merlot from Château Bel Orme is round, with lively, acidic and really savory fruit. Drier, draining soils ensure that the Cabernet Sauvignon ripens optimally, with its ripe, velvety and silky tannins, the authentic signature of Haut-Médoc wines. This means, among other things, hints of laurel licorice and a light smokiness in the taste.

Price per bottle € 29.50 and packed in boxes of 6 bottles

Below more about the winemaker and his background:

This Château, owned by the Quié family, also owners of the prestigious Château Rauzan Gassies in the Margaux region, is a fine example of responsible management of nature. To contribute to the richness of the domain and its immediate surroundings, Château Bel Orme Tronquoy-de-Lalande has selected and implemented plant materials to preserve the habitat of local fauna and flora. Areas of swamps and woodlands with endemic plant species and wildlife habitat have been preserved and hedgerows have been maintained and replanted.

Fully committed to this philosophy, the Château also lends its pastures to a breeder of Blondes d'Aquitaine cattle who are happy to share the pasture. In return for this provision, the vineyard benefits from natural fertilizer. The castle's 30 hectare vineyard extends over the most beautiful hills of the village of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne.

Today the vine population consists of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Each plot, depending on the soil, age, grape variety or rootstock, benefits from specific tillage adapted to its needs.

This wine from 2015 is already quite ready to drink.
