Champagne Brut Blanc de Blanc Premier Cru. (per 6) Bottle price € 35.50
Blanc de blancs means 'white of white'. This means that white wine is made from white grapes. White wine can also be made from blue grapes (after all, the juice is white). With champagne, champagne made only from the white grapes of chardonnay is marketed as "blanc de blancs". There is also “blanc de noirs”. What should you say about champagne about taste? The bubbles make it seem as if the properties of the grape are exploding a bit. So the flavor of the chardonnay in this case becomes more intense than intense. Just try.

Below more about the winemaker and his background:
Quatresols-Gauthier
Quatresols-Gauthier Champagne is located in the wine village of Ludes (Premier Cru) near Reims. Three generations have passed, Régis and Guillaume are currently ensuring the continuity of their estate, which was founded in 1928. Their vineyard is located entirely in the Premier Crus and Grands Crus zones. The champagnes are produced with grapes that come exclusively from our own plots, consisting of limestone and clay.
Here too, a family business that shows respect for nature and explicitly states that it wants to produce champagnes with their own character that can differ from year to year.
The family not only makes a blanc de blanc but also a blanc de noir, a rosé and millisimé from 2013 that uses wood. How they do this remains a secret because this publication is called Secret de Chêne. If you would like to know more about the rest of their range, please contact me via the contact form on this site.
I have deliberately put the grape variety chardonnay in bold. There are a lot of 'forgotten' grape varieties. Who ever heard of arbane, petit meslier? You are familiar with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, but they are called differently here: Pinot Blanc, for example, is called Blanc Vrai in this region.
Champagne is delicious. However, the biggest wasters of these festive bubbles are the F1 winners and bobos who pop champagne against the bow of a ship just before launching. Shame, but that's personal.
